Police officers are trained observers. we are taught this from day one. i feel the officer was correct, not because i am one, but based on our training.

But, this is what traffic court is all about. if you feel you were correct, then have your day in court.

It will be a gamble. feel lucky?

be honest, did you come to a complete and total stop. Or did you mostly slow down and almost stop. You see I am from SF and I was almost run over by an idiot who claimed to have stopped and then turn right. Well, she slowed down to about 5 mph and then made the turn. Only my fast reaction time prevented me from being hurt. So think hard, did ya stop or did ya think you stopped, either way, pay the ticket and go back to LA.

I'd go back in my memory and remember exactly where the cop was when I first saw him. Then, go back to that exact point with a camera and take several pictures. Then take several overalls of the area from different angles. I would personally say (given your description) that these pictures prove the policeman did not have a good enough vantage point to accurately see me stop. If you have a clean driving record that will also help your case. Be polite, be factual, don't stretch the truth and don't be beligerant.

If your case is strong enough (good speaking skills help) then you may get off on the charge.

    Good luck,
    Hope this helps

I was in the same predicament only the cop was behind me...and i DID stop...but i was really courteous and i didnt have to pay for the ticket...just court costs..the ironic thing is...the court costs were about 10 times more than the ticket itself...but you can plead not guilty in court then you could go to an actual court where you would STILL be paying money so either way your paying something...

Cops are people also and they not always right. I'd take some pictures of the area for court to prove your point. Chances are you won't win because judges usually side on the cop.
