  • Generally no. I do understand that when people live in close proximity to one another their rights are going to end up pitted against each other. Cities are no place for roosters, backyards are not good for sacrificing goats. Small parks are not the place for all-night music festivals. . But the kind of laws that get passed in the name of 'good for everyone' are often nothing of the kind.
  • That depends. Do you think you should be able to dump toxic chemicals on your private property? Do you think you should be able to have a sex club with no sight barriers next to an elementary school? Your question calls for a simple answer to an issue that is not so simple.
  • Zoning laws have been around for years. I think they often violate the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments. Any regulations dealing with private property should be limited to matters of public safety.
  • Zoning regulations serve a useful purpose, especially in populated areas. What I am upset and worried about where the court has allowed eminent domain to go.
