  • Yes and no. Your cell phone uses the same flash memory both for long term AND short term storage. Because this information is lighting fast and random access...the "speed" of your cell phone will not decrease as information is added. however: Some cell phones reserve a portion of this memory exclusively for active processes. On these phones, you can fill up the available memory completely with no noticable change in system speed. Some phones however give you access to the all the memory, and they use only what is availabe for active processes. On these phones, you may notice a slowdown once you have filled up roughly 90 percent of the available memory. Assuming your phone is in the latter category: as long as you don't fill your phone COMPLETELY with ringtones or other information (leaving about 10 percent of the memory free is a safe bet)...then your system will run as fast as it did when you bought it. shaggy
