Maybe its easy to just drop a donut and run off to an emergency...Plus they are so tasty.

It's because donuts are cheap and easy to eat in a patrol car, on foot, or horse back. They can have a snack and still get the job done.

The restaurant I worked in always gave officers in uniform free coffee and donuts. I don't know if other places do the same, or if that has to do with how cops became associated with donuts.

I was a cop in England and all we wanted was a cup of tea and to get off our feet for a couple of minutes. Doughnuts never came into the equation.

I thimk it is beacause dounut shops open early in the morning when others are closed and it is cheap eats.

A few years ago, I worked at Tim Horton's (a coffee shop in Canada) and we were instructed to give officers free ANYTHING. If they were eating in the store, they got it free.

its not just cops. i am best friends with doughnuts also, although not so much with cops.

They took my marijuana and bowl, gave me a paraphernalia ticket only. They took the "unclaimed" weed smoked it then the rest is history.
