I have to remove my shoes before entering the house as the house is fully covered with carpet
-
Not unless it is mandatory. I prefer to visit homes where the guests are valued more than the carpet. Of course I would go along without complaining if it were a cultural issue.
-
Yes. Asians in the family and, you know, it's simply practical not to track dirt and dog doo doo around the house!
-
If it is the custom of the house, I do. Otherwise, I do not unless invited to do so. In my house, I often like to go without shoes.
-
As a courtesy, unless specifically told not to take them off.
-
Yes, always. Not just out of courtesy, it feels strange to walk around even in my house with shoes on. Feels like I'm making my way out.
-
No I am not Japanese . :P
-
Nope. My carpets would be cleaner if people did, though.
-
Always, and besides being polite, it is a great way to get your shoes off for awhile.
-
In this climate I live in I remove them just afterward.
-
Only mine usually. Unless the owner asks me to, then I would.
-
I remove them before boarding a yacht.
-
Yes, in my family it is consider the polite thing to do. I feel very strange walking around a house with shoes on.
-
my house? yes ... cuz i like to be comfy ... other's? depends on how long i intend to stay, and then i typically ask if it would be alrigh
-
Not usually, unless I am asked.
-
Not usually. I do follow the lead of the host though, and will remove them upon entering the house. In my own home shoes are often removed upon entering, but it's more because of comfort than anything else, along with most of our clothes. In our house it's not uncommon for us to be nude or only semi-clothed until we are ready to leave the house to go out.
-
Yes, Its rude not to
-
Generally, and preferably. But if the reason I'm there is a formal affair and no one else is shoeless, then I probably wouldn't be the first.
-
always, i think its wrong to walk through a house in shoes and tread shit into someones carpet.
-
not unless they tell me too
-
Yes. . Unless the host insists on me staying in the shoes or the floor is obviously dirty. . In my family and at a lot of people around here, clean floor is the standard. A house is supposed to be clean enough for you to not be afraid to walk barefoot, sit on the ground or even lie down on it without feeling disgusted. . Mostly the floor is clean enough for me not to feel a problem with eating many things that fell on it after blowing at it.
