Is anyone else partaking in the ancient Persian tradition of decorating eggs this Spring? What are your favorite designs/methods? Plain dye? Fancy kits? Freestyle? Hard-boiled or emptied shells?

I want to. I think I'll hard boil them this year, because I won't be hiding them, and what else would you do with eggs beside eat them? I like to use the kits. Sometimes I'll just do plain colors, or sometimes I'll get all creative and paint pictures or use glitter. I just do whatever feels good. Whattabout you?

I'm doing it, I've got a 17 month old boy who's gonna love them! I used to do it with my oldest boy (he's 13 now), we do a freestyle type of decorating. We also have a tradition of making the first egg as wild as possible, we call it "the ugly egg"! Here's a picture of my youngest with his eggs last year.

I got a spring-loaded egg holder from Magic Cabin to make freestyle painting a little easier. This year, since they're getting a bit older, we might branch out and start using some fabric, ribbons, etc., too. I got an egg blower to hollow out the eggs (I've only ever used hard-boiled), thinking I'd like to do a few beaded ones by myself, but who knows whether I will make the time!

i always thought ukrianian egg were the most famous.well i wrap the eggs tightly in my persian turban and urinate on them like BORAT
