When reading a novel, do you assign characters the physical traits of celebrities or do you let your mind free-form the characters' physical traits?

I sometimes do that if I saw a movie version of the book before reading it. But other than that, I just let my mind grope about until it forms a picure of them.

generally i form the physical traits around a combination of the author's description of said physical traits & the impression of who they are i get from actions/personality/etc (!)

I free form and that is why I was so dissapointed when Tom Hanks showed up in the Davinci Code. He was not my minds picture.
