Earthquakes can crack structural foundations for buildings, causing them to topple.

The can also burst water lines, causing minor flooding in some areas, and a whole host of related problems, as well as bursting gas lines causing fire hazards.

In mountainous areas, they can dislodge boulders that cause risk to life and property in its path.

They can interrupt segments of the power grid as well, causing economic catastrophe, but also risking the lifes of people who depend on continuous eletricity (such as some hospital patients).
