I think he handled the award with a great deal of class.

He admitted that his accomplishments to date did not warrant the award.

He acknowledged the efforts at resolving international problems that the Nobel Committee is trying to promote.

He will donate the prize money to charity.

It's about all I would ask of him under the circumstances.

He and Al Gore did nothing at all to promote and maintain or achieve anything that has to do with peace. However, that award has turned more into Class Presidents in high school, nothing but a popularity contest. He said He's donating the money to charity, and I wonder how much ACORN will get, as it costs a lot to recruit and keep on preteen prostitutes.

    No.

It's not like it's a politically motivated medal designed to assuage the egos of political donators. Like Bu$h did with the Presidential Freedom Award, way too many times.

I cannot personally believe that a man that has only been in office for 9 months and that has done nothing but talk of change has been put into the same category as mandela? Tutu? Su kyi?.
I'm not against obarma but i would have had far more respect for him if he's declined this and given it to somebody that actually deserves it like mr tsvangirai that experienced personal pain, danger and actual hardship to try and bring order to his country at the risk of his own life. And not someone that just sits in an office while talking because no matter how noble the topic is still is just talking. Obama has taken no personal risk for peace like the others have.
The icing on the cake was when obama accepted this award he said he contine the war on terror with it? Basically using the acceptance of prize for peace to advocate continuing war.

He should with this explanation, Thank you for this Honor that I have done nothing as yet to deserve it. I respectfuly decline this award as Nobel intended this award to go to those who have actually contributesd to world peace. Or something to this affect. This would take it out of politics and place it back where it belongs. Nobel is probably rolling over in his grave with some of those who have been awarded the Peace Prize in the Last 5 decades
