  • what halo?
  • Too much racist angels around here to lend one.
  • According to Obama, he is a Christian & a political leader, not a religious scholar - so I don't really pay much attention to his interpretations/opinions of religions.
  • Having read the Q'uran I have to agree with him. You would be surprised how much the Bible and Q'uran are alike.
  • The Bible supposedly promotes the same thing. If you overlook all of the mass murdering done for religious purposes, you might believe it.
  • Whatever. But some people are going to make bad judgements based on that.
  • I think he's trying to stop all the hate towards Muslims. Good on him. He's correct. Just as the Bible is suppose to promote the same thing. Does not mean all people who follow the religion are going to obey that. The Bible has been used for hundreds of years as a reason to kill.
  • Well, did a bit of looking around, found this interesting... http://nowscape.com/islam/koran_sura.htm
  • The Quran does not mince words: Quran 4:89: “They (infidels) desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah’s way; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.” Quran 8:12: “Instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers;” Quran 2:191: “… kill the disbelievers wherever we find them …”
  • It's not so much what the book promotes as what you want to believe. The Bible has been cherry picked so many times to promote everything from slavery, to capital punishment to wife beating. I don't believe any religion actively promotes violence and hatred, but judging by human behavior one might think otherwise.
  • Either he's never read it or he is being dishonest. His rhetoric is an obvious appeal to curry favor with his largely then-present Muslim audience.
  • Sounds plausible to me.
  • He's half right. When old Moe was in Mecca trying to set up a base, he was very peaceful. But when he managed to grab some power, suddenly peaceful went out the door onto it's arse.
  • I think it's the biggest crock of sh!t I ever heard. The koran plainly states that everyone who isn't Muslim is an infidel, worthy of nothing less than death. To drive the point home, they've attacked every country they could get a foothold into, and killed as many people as possible. If this is thier version of peace, I want no part of it. An dif they hurt me or mine, it's ON. +5
