I surely do, and get much satisfaction from doing so. I have made a wall mounted mail/letter box from somebodies discarded pack of panel flooring. I have made a junction box for use in the attic to allow two extractor fans to join into one exhaust duct (without allowing extracted air to flow into the other room). I have made superior handles for plastic supermarket carrier bags (which always seem to cut into your hands). I won't bore you with more! All were cheap, and sometimes not available elsewhere.
