There is essentially nothing you can do to strengthen your ankles because there is no muscle tissue there to strengthen. However, you can strengthen the muscles near your ankles and this may help. Stand up. Feet about shoulder width apart. Slowly raise up onto the balls of your feet, and then slower lower down again. Do this slowly. When you feel ready for it, begin holding weights. This will strengthen your calves more than anything, but by association, it will also help your ankles. Or...wear hightop shoes (boots) and lace them up tightly.

Yoga is filled with postures that will strengthen the muscles around your ankles. To start with, focus on standing balancing poses, such as standing on one foot.
