Books to read (if you can read in the car) Cameras (so everyone can take shots of what they want) Cooler (fill with pop/juice/etc. and ice, every day) Basket (snacks - Think single-serving cereal, fruit rollups, apples, grapes, other relatively healthy stuff - SOME may work better in the cooler) Laptops (if everyone's got one) with a DVD player in it. (for movies, TV shows, CDs, etc.) EARPHONES (so everyone can listen to their own tunes) Umbrellas (you never know if it's going to be raining when/where you stop) Cash (people will get tired of the pop you're carrying. This is for pop- and candy-machines). Coins (for toll roads and bridges. Everyone should have some cash for occasional stops at TTs - Tourist Traps). If the driver insists on driving until the need for a fillup, urinals. (Yucky, I know, but necessary. It's NOT easy to "stick it out the window" at 70-80MPH!) Crossword and puzzle books. Yep. The family car can be packed with all sorts of stuff for the trip. For the trunk: All the clothes and toiletries of everyone, hopefully in suitcases, including swimsuits, towels, etc.

This classic song has a check list necessary for all family road trips. The list items are potato skins, pickled wieners, crossword puzzles, Spiderman comics, and mama's homemade rhubard pie. Oh, and don't forget the diet chocolate soda. All found at your local Wal-Mart.
