I'm debating with myself over this one. One the one hand, we have too many laws already. On the other hand, they say that doing ANYTHING while driving (besides driving) is equally distracting and dangerous, and I don't want to be killed by a distracted driver.

It should be encompassed under Driving without due care and attention. If it ties up a hand for more than a second or distracts your attention from the road, it's illegal.
-
Actually although I have done this in the past..when I have been in a hurry and had no time to grab lunch..I do think that yes..it should be illegal..so should smoking while driving..

No, there are already to many laws regarding our freedom. Let people do what they want to do, you want to do what you want to do. Why should some choices be right and others be wrong? Can I scratch my nose, can I change the radio station, can I shift gears?

if its fast food, yes! [joking!] all distractions are unsafe and increase motor vehicle accidents! i'm libertarian enough to not like government interference in my life. but, when a simple law can save 10,000 of those 40,000 lives each year, that restriction on my freedom might be worth the $20 billion in costs each year. besides, if it slows us down, we might properly digest the food. . W B [is that you, Walker Bush?] brings up an excellent point. it is hard to know where to draw the line anytime! some things are frowned upon by society [e.g., cigs today and food tomorrow], some things are in our control [e.g., changing gears] where others are out of our control [e.g., a bee].
