Hehe, bit of a loaded question, but yes I do think he's right to consider the options rather than blundering in!

Yes,obviously...a US president should make WISE decisions [see previous US presidents],but Cotton101: what ARE Obama's options,do you think?
-
Yes it would be wise of him. This war against the Taliban cannot be won by either side. It will be the USA's second Vietnam and The UK's second N. Ireland. (Until the UK swallowed its pride and negotiated with the IRA.) Most people 'On the Street' seem to know this war is not winnable - Why not the politicians? Even the might of the Great Russian Bear failed in their efforts to tame Afghanistan. I've said it for many years; the West has to enter into negotiations with the Taliban. OK! The Taliban are radical in their beliefs but so is their resolve to fighting and they will not be beaten!

General McChristal and the whole general staff of the Us forces have a quite different opinion as well as General David Richards fromthe British side. Both are very sure that only a massive enforcement of American and British troops will make victory for sure. And both generals were today publishing in public statement that foreign troops were nothing but a millstone around the neck. So both generals want to get rid off all foreign troops in Afghanistan and increase the number of their own troops in a massive way. Mr.Obama and Mr.Gordon Brown can not do but send many more troops to Afghanistan if their own generals want to get rid of all other troops. So for the first both are planning to get 100.000 new troops down there and in a second step they think aout another 100.000 troops to get into a clear win-situation. If America and Britain do not want to lose their face to the rest of the world they will have to enforce their own troops as it is propsed by their own generals and experts. Mr.Obama should not consider that much but act, because in this situation he no longer any choice.

I thought he already had my friend. He was promoting Iraq as the unjust war and Afghanistan as the just war so I'm very confused. :(
