Do earthquakes really occur ocassionally in California?

    They happen just about everyday! It's usually only the bigger ones that get felt, About 2.0 or greater depending upon your proximity to the epicenter.

    Yes, they do. I experienced a number of them in the years that I lived there. Here are some references about larger quakes that have happened there.

    The last of these is a quake that I actually felt as I was living 117.34 miles away in Santa Barbara at the time.
