  • It might cook them, but it would probably also destroy them. If you try it, though, post the results! ;)
  • I kinda doubt that -- What a idea - LOL
  • With or without soap? I would'nt use the soap that could effect the taste and texture of the potato.
  • Let me know when you can get them to peel too.
  • well, I seriously suggest that you make sure you slice them first, probably into chip type size, and coat them with a nice tasty topping, then place them only in the top part of the dishwasher, and make sure you have the dishwasher on a long cycle, and a drying cycle, that should just about do it. You could add icecream on the bottom shelf, for a dessert sundae !!
  • haha nice idea. i dont think it would work, but its worth a shot. you should definetly post the results up if you do it.
  • I think they would get too mushy...I like mine crispy. Maybe you should try cooing them under the hood of your car instead. ;)
  • I know stuff can be cooked in the dishwasher. I remeber watching a variety show in the 70's and one guest was Vincent Price, and he demonstrated cooking trout in the dishwasher. I do remember it was tightly wrapped in several layers. He said it seemed a cross between heat cooking and steaming. However, I would think it would be a little bit of a waste in water (actually a lot of a waste in water). However, try it and see, and don't forget to let us ABer's know the results okay. Goodluck
  • Sure you can also scramble a egg in a dishwasher but I would'nt do it
  • I reckon the cycle would not be long enough to cook them properly, and you would need to wrap them in foil to stop them getting all mushy on the outside. It would clean them, but I doubt it would do that good a job with potatoes that come with dirt on them. Give it a whirl and let us know!
  • Sounds like it might not be the most sanitary idea. I mean, I'm sure the hot steam from the drying cycle probably kills most of the bacteria that's lurking around in your dishwasher... but still... the idea of it is kind of ooky.
  • I am an eco nut and just thought about doing this to save some energy. I am making mashed potatoes tonight anyway. I then looked to see if there were an answers online. I hope i can help finish this thread. I will post later with process and results. wish me luch
