  • Of course not. We just know it is.
  • No, they aren't brainwashed - America encourages patriotism. Many people take it to the extreme, and they're proud of that.
  • yes, they are brainwashed. were taught in school that were lucky to live here. i think the people answering 'no' to this are scared to think they might have had their brains messed with as children.
  • Yes, I think they are, but it is not their fault - if you are given an image over and over again, you are going to believe it. USA is one HUGE country - with relatively little variation from place to place - one big homogenised country - with the same chain stores stretching for thousands of miles. We, in Europe, are used to having much more variety, therefore we are aware of differences in cultures, in shopping habits, food preferences, languages, currency, politics from one small country to the next - and some european countries are smaller than some US states! We see so much more variety travelling from village to village than the average american will see across their whole country! And ok, so you can say that it is an ethnically diverse place, with every country represented, and a wide range of food cultures and customs available, but .. the single unifying factor of having one government, one currency, one language, one set of ideals, one flag, one "american dream" must contribute to the notion of not necessarily being the best country in the world, but of being the ONLY country in the world - and for may americans, it is!, as americans have a very small percent of passport holders among their citizens compared to other nations!
  • Not at all, we know that it isn't perfect nowhere is perfect.
  • Most Governments encourage their populations to "think what you like, if you agree with me". But to the strong minded, this is all pretty obvious. Good thinking has no national boundaries. +3
  • Americans do have minds of their own and believe what they choose.
  • If you're asking this because you don't really know, then take it from one who has traveled the world for the past 30 years and lived in many countries for most of those years...we DO have the best country, in spite of our own kinks and hang-ups. If you doubt me, then try living in any other country for longer than a month and then see if you feel the same way. I'm betting you won't.
  • MOST people love their country, with its faults and its benefits. Russians are highly patriotic. Germans are. The French are. I, personally, do think that the U.S. is the best country in the world but not a perfect country. There's lots wrong with it - hey, it's full of fallible human beings - but I'm quite proud to be an American.
