How can a word be considered a curse word when there are acceptable words that express the same exact thing?

Because humans in general are odd. If you really think about it, it's kind of funny that some people get REAL offended over the usage of some words, whether they're cuss words or not.

I consider a cures word as something religious said in vain, this might not be accurate but it does not offend at all. I take note of the tone of whats being said and the relating context rather then the word it self.
