In dominoes you have to score by making the end pieces add up to multiples of 5; 5,10,15,20. You add up only the pieces on the ends of the lines. You start the game by putting the highest double piece. The double 5 is the best one to have because it starts you with 10 points. I hope this is clear. I don't know of any other ways to score.

If you are playing draw or block dominoes (which I would say are the most common, basic versions of the game) the loser adds up the spots on the dominoes remaining in their hand and that score is given to the winner of the round. Sometimes a bonus is given when a player gets stuck with double zero but that is not typical.
