  • My oldest is 23 and in law school in Boston. So she is 300o miles away. My youngest is in a JC here in San Jose and works full time a Nordstrom's. So both have turned out pretty well. So yes I have backed away but tell them I love them always...
  • I have taught my children the ways I know for leading a satisfying life. I have given them the opportunity for the best education they are capable of absorbing. And ever since they got an employment after completing their education, I have let go of all parental control. Still the love and affection remains. And they are always welcome to fall back upon me for advice or assistance. What more could one do?
  • no , a 'good' parent never stops being a PARENT...but yes,all good parents realize , as the Prodigal's father did, you have to let them go and pray for the best, hopefully they will COME HOME on their own, humble and more grateful.....you can only do so much ,and as bad as you know it is, let them take their own road....
  • i hope that my children are near me when i die, so, i hope that we'll always be together. yes, at times, i have backed away, hoping, praying, pacing ... letting go and allowing the individual to assume responsibility for their behaviors and thoughts and choices is different from our letting them go, which we hopefully never do.
