  • Yeah that's wrong. To me at least, a plus size women is a woman that ic actually bigger than the average. I don't know much about the sizes, but I date and love big women and most of the women I have been with were size 12 to 18.
  • I know absolutely nothing about dress sizes or fashion, but I know what I like. The two models pictured in the article represent what is normal and healthy, not to mention down right sexy !! I have always wondered why the fashion industry insists on using stick figure models with tons of ugly make-up to unrealistically represent women. It seems they live in a fantasy world, far, far away from the rest of us. +5
  • I'm glad they are being represented and that there is mre exposure to all the different body types, shades, and variaionsof people. "Plus sized model", isn't an insult tough, i describes women who are thought to be bigger than average but usuall in a healthy state. Not al "plus sized" people are healthy, and I feel that by ou saying the should be called normal healthy women that ou might be insulting oher normal healthy women of a smaller size. To be honest, most of my "plus sized" friends do't minf the word (they realize that the other alternative would be "fat" for a lo of people). There's names for everybody shape, it's the intention behind it (Ex: skinny, bubble butt). And with this, I think it's harmless.
  • Yeah, it's a bunch of crap..and the sad thing is..when you see someone bigger on TV or whatever..you're like "holy crap, their fat!" and the sad thing is they are probably the same size as most of us..we just get so use to seeing 0-4 all the time, that a woman in a size 14 on TV looks big..back in the day, fat was beauty, fat was success, fat was like royalty.
  • In the past there were three basic body types: skinny, slim, and overweight. Nowadays slim seems to have become defunct, and if you are not underweight then you MUST be overweight, there is no middle ground any more, at least in the eyes of the media and fashion. There is nothing at all wrong with having plus-sized models but these women at these sizes don't even qualify as plus-sized, and the worry is that women who are these sizes and are perfectly fine may feel under pressure to lose weight they don't need to, which from my male point of view is a bad thing, as I think those women look great and sexy.
  • Why is that crap? It is an arbitrary line somebody has drawn in the sand. Personally I think those numbers represent BMI over 25. If that is the case then they would be above average which technically would make then plus size. Women that size are either really tall or overweight. It is what it is.
  • whatta yah mean. those ladies love the plus size label.
  • I suppose there's a market for it. Lots of fat girls around. And there's a market for guys who are into that sort of thing. Yes, the business rationale is quite sound. Fat girls have just as money to spend as skinny ones.
