Is it unfair to expect most people to cook as well as Emeril or any Chef?

Yes - they are trained professionls -I can follow their recipes but I'm sure their food is better than mine.

It's not rocket science! Anyone who wants to put the energy into it...can pull it off with some honest effort and attention to detail!

It seems so many of those TV cooks, like that Emeril guy of Chef Ramsey from that Hells Kitchen show always seems to cook stuff that I wouldn't want to eat, ever, even for free yet alone paying hundreds of bucks for a plate of food that they cooked. I'd just assume pay five bucks for a heavy helping of beef stew from the diner then eat their stuff. Always wonder, if using that standard and knowing it's a personal thing and there is really no wrong answer, if the diner cook is a better cook than Emeril because they make stuff someone like me would rather eat. And what is a risotto, anyway?
