  • D batteries are 1.5 volts, so your 6 D batteries are probably set up to output 9V. hooking up 19 volts will probably burn it out. You might try -getting rechargeable D cell batteries (but pay attention - some D cell rechargeables are just C cells in a D size case - you can get D cell rechargeables with anywhere from 1,800 mha to 12,000mha capacity) -wire it up to a 9 volt battery from a cordless tool -plug it in (it is very uncommon for a radio not to have a way to plug in)
  • No, it won't work as 6 X 1.5 = 9 volts. I would buy some nickel metal hydride batteries of the highest rating you can find (I know they have them to at least 10,000 mAh)
  • No. You could use an 8.4V pack without much issues, maybe a 9.6V, but a 19V pack will fry it quick.
  • Thanks for all the great feedback. Unfortuantley, I made the mistake of buying Energizer D batteries, and they don't even last 2 hours. I may give an 8.4V pack that I have laying around a try. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to stay close to an AC outlet. Thanks again.
  • More power! lol
