  • Since reading a study in a Medical periodical over 20 years ago, I have been using Zinc. The Zinc in one form or another must be absorbed by the mucus membranes in the head for the best effect. Currently Zicam has several variations which are applied to the nasal membranes. There are several lozengers available from makers such as ColdEEZE. The most effective way to use either is to take several doses at the first sign of a cold. I can kill a cold over night when I start to get a nasal itch or throat pain. Even if you do not stop the cold, these products ease the discomfort and shorten the time suffering.

These remedies can soothe common cold symptoms and speed up recovery! Herbs such as Echinacea purpurea, Inula helenium and Withania somnifera are commonly used for their antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial properties and their excellent ability to support the immune system. These herbs work as a tonic for the immune system and are an extremely successful common cold remedy.
