Ear candles are made of muslin cloth dipped in wax shaped like a large kindergarten pencil. the small pointed end goes in your ear of course and you lite the other end. It is suppose to draw out any fluid or wax in the ear. And as audiogal said you can get burned and also you can damage your eardrum.

I used these before and i SWEAR by them. They dont work straight away but over a period of time. I would live my life by them. Google: Holland and Barrett - they should have some great info. You place the ear candle (known in Europe as Hop Candles pronounced Hope-E) and you only burn it half way. You know when its working when you can hear cracking and a whistle sound. Two people need to do this task and also doing two ears at the same time is a must! Hope this helps, they certainly helped me BIG TIME

Go to most healh and supllement store. It takes two people to candle ears. They are like bees wax cones and are about 2 feet long, there ore marks on each and using a wet cloth to protect your hand and ear, the one person light the end above your ear and you hold the candle gently in your ear with your head on a pillow. At each mark, the end is cut off and the process repeated. Usually 4 candles for two times (at different times) sounds like torture but works

They are a piece of folk medicine with no scientific evidence to back up claims made for them. Because of this, they are illegal to sell and even to import into Canada. http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/iyh-vsv/med/ear-oreille_e.html
