I know it is not the popular view but I very much agree with you. The deterioration of the family as a unit is at the root cause of the breakdown of our society. I come from a broken home and feel this quite profoundly.

I might if the concept of marriage wasn't a sham propped up by tradition and bullshlitz. It seems like the extraordinary number of divorces and babies born to single parents might signal to us that SOMETHING is wrong with this picture. As usual, we believe what we WANT to believe, truth be damned.

I see where you're going with this, and I agree wholeheartedly. Black people shouldn't be able to get married.

No. I'd say that instead of worrying oneself over what happens to other's folks lives, we instead should be more inclined to judge folks by the contents of the character, or lack thereof. More doomsday glooming eh?

I don't find the question to be terribly congruent to be honest. I don't believe that Society or anyone not a direct party to a marriage or relationship between two consenting adults CAN diminish or devalue the relationship! A couple that VALUES each other, and is really committed to each other, who cares, learns to agree and to disagree without becoming hateful, who sets goals that they are willing to work towards together, and honors each other in all ways possible...will become successful at living together and loving each other... I feel like the diminishing of relationships and the possible connection to Society is more relative to people being self-centered, and lazy. That nasty INSTANT GRATIFICATION mentality gets more people into a world of crap than one might automatically be aware of! I WANT what I want and I don't care what it costs me (money, time, stepping on others) to get it! WELL, THAT'S REAL NICE....NOT!!!! I feel better about myself...when I flirt with a stranger and make them want me...even though I'm married...it's the THRILL OF THE GAME! ACK ACK ACK! RIGHT...ANOTHER BAD MENTALITY for a successful marriage! I'm in CHARGE of everything, and you don't know chit! That sure builds mutual respect in a relationship...ya think? Noooooo, sorry, I can't agree with this concept. I happen to have FREE WILL as to my own personal behaviors, beliefs, values, choices...and HOW I treat the one I love, is my responsibility...NOT Society... WE sink or swim according to our PERSONAL choices and behaviors, the way we treat, love, respect and honor each other.
