If you want to get your book published, it would be wiser to self-publish. Of course, you can always send your work to a traditional publisher, but it's going to take years and years and years to get your book out. Worse, you spend a lifetime waiting only to find that your work gets rejected. When you self-publish, you only have yourself to convince. I think an important thing to keep in mind when publishing a book is not about wowing publishers, but wowing readers. The more people know about it, the better.
