Vicks..rub it everywhere you hurt. Throat, neck, chest, back, even a tiny bit under you nose to breathe better. It's a wonder!

Super hot shower. Wash cloth in microwave or in freezer. I like Tang heated up. As for OTC products, I like Cold-Eeze and Zicam to actualy reduce the duration of the illness.

Some of these have already been said, but for good reason. Vick's Vapor Rub is great. Get the non greasy cream kind and rub it under your nose, all over your throat, and on your chest. Eat some chicken noodle or chicken with rice soup. The broth apparently has drug-like agents similar to those in modern cold medicines. For example, an amino acid released from chicken during cooking chemically resembles the drug acetylcysteine, prescribed for bronchitis and other respiratory problems. I like to add hot sauce to mine, which can help clear stuffy nose. Orange juice helps because of the vitamin C and keeps you hydrated. Some people like to use a humidifier with some camphor or eucalyptus oil in it. The moisture helps relieve dry nasal passages.

Cold liquids like ice water or even gatorade can help sooth your throat. Throat lozenges can help sooth your throat also. Boiling some water and then putting your face over it to inhale the steam can help get some of the mucous to drain out--a good hot, steamy shower will do the same as well. Also lots of Vitamin C. I would let the fever run it's course so long as it is not too high. A fever is the body's way of killing germs. Best of luck and hope you are feeling better soon.

for fever take tylenol....for stuffy nose and soar throat...cool mist vapourizor with distilled water only (tap water makes crystals that get into the lungs etc)...ice pack on the throat 10 minutes every hour or so will relieve the soreness.

I'm not sure if you have ever heard of this, but there is an herbal pill called echinacea. When I'm sick like this, I take the pills plus drink as much orange juice as I can possibly hold. Plus for the dry cough, I suck on halls and use the Vicks throat spray as much as I possibly can.
