  • The clients need the DNS server to resolve names into IP addresses. If the DNS server is not at a stable address, the clients all have to get updates on its new location each time it changes. Coming up with a way to update the clients in a timely manner adds a lot of complexity to the solution. Better just to give the DNS servers stable addresses.
  • What would happen if your DHCP server went down? Give it a fixed IP.
  • DNS systems are too valuable to use DHCP, even with the standard setup of three of them.
