What made the US a great country was production. We used to be the envy of the world with railroads, steel mills, the car industry, and manufacturing of all kinds. Nowadays, our economy is not based on savings and production....it is based on borrowing and consumption. We are really good at spending money on worthless shit, ....and that's about it. We are still a leader in computer based technology, but that is quickly getting outsourced to India, Singapore and Japan. We have all the technology to be relevant in today's economic condition, but we remain tied to old and dying ways of doing things. To the rest of the world, we are a diminishing dot in the rear view window.
