The Detroit Red Wings have had some awesome mid round draft picks. I'm starting in 1990 to make it simpler because it would take a long time to go through all their draft picks. 1990 R7: Jason York played 17 seasons in the NHL, a long and solid career 1991 R3: Chris Osgood all around solid goalie, won a couple of cups, still playing 1991 R4: Mike Knuble grinder, won two cups, 7 straight seasons with 20 goals 1992 R10: Dan McGillis 9 good seasons in NHL (awesome for a 10th rounder) 1994 R10: Tomas Holmstrom in his 15th year, four cups to his credit 1998 R6: Pavel Datsyuk MVP nominee last year, won Lady Byng, Selke, two cups 1999 R7: Henrik Zetterberg Conn Smythe winner, one cup, expect 80 pts per year These picks are in addition to some up and coming players you may have heard of last playoff season: Valtteri Filppula, Jonathan Ericsson, Johan Franzen, Justen Abdelkader, Darren Helm, Niklas Kronwall, and Tomas Kpecky. Pretty good, eh?
