  • You shouldn't focus on the bad, but think of all the good. Bad thoughts will get you nowhere while the better one's will help you to succeed. With that said, NO, there are no bad points to being a foreign exchange student.
  • Clearly the cultural differences will be minor hurdles. From my knowledge way back in my scholastic days, most people were sympathetic toward and found foriegn exchange students to be a fresh breath of air from the stagnat homogenicized uniformity that all of our culture. I usually found them to nicer and more honest than the grand majority of my fellow americans. It's too bad we don't send more of our kids abroad in order to broaden their minds. The only foriegn country I ever went to is Canada and I grew up 3 miles away from it' so in all truth I never left the center of N.A. I wish I had been a foriegn exchange student when I was in my scholasctic years. It's all good.
  • NO! do it. you will never regret it! I'm at the end of an exchange year in Charleston, SC, USA and I am originally from Germany. I would never ever trade my memories against anything in the WORLD!
  • no i think it would be a great experience i would do it if i had the chance
  • You can't always make yourself understood, thats one problem i had when i was an exchange student. and also tht your frinds wont see you as one of them. you will always be "that foreigner" in their eyes. but besides that, theres not too many cons
  • There are no bad points in the long run. Things that seem important to you now will pale over time. Depending on when you go, you may have to repeat a year of high school and make new friends when you come back. However, when you think about it, these are people that after graduation you won't ever see again anyway. So its best year of your life versus best friends "for life". If you end up going, and it is to a non-English speaking country, be sure to pack your fave English movies and tv shows because when you need a break from the new culture they will be comforting. Exchanges are not for everyone; however, I have never spoken to a person that said the experience was bad.
