My experience has been that you can post your comments and you get one immediate chance to edit them (as you look at them first being posted). However, if you click away from that page, the comments are "locked in" and you no longer are allowed to edit them.

You only have a limited time in which to edit comments. It makes sense because you could make later comments look like nonsense if you edited yours after several others had been made.
