  • What you're talking about is the "social dynamics" of Answerbag. People just hanging out and chatting, basically. The design of the site requires people to ask questions to start a conversation, so it's sort of an artificial restriction.... people put question marks at the end of some pretty strange statements :) In the "old days" (before Nov. 2006), this was almost forbidden: you had to ask a somewhat meaningful question, and the kinds of social 'fluff' questions weren't much permitted. But in that month, points were introduced and the site began to mutate from a serious Q-and-A into something like it's current chaotic form. Lots of the old users left soon after, unable to tolerate the change in character of the site. So now, it is what it is -- there's serious content and silly content and social content and just plain weird stuff. It's all about being able to find what interests you and ignore the rest.
