  • Some bath-only toys might help. You could also get a cheap plastic swimming pool (for whatever hot days you have left) and smuggle in some soap part way through the splash-fest.
  • Tell him if he wants to eat again he better take a bath first. Really. No bath - no food....he will get the message pretty quick I assure you.
  • At 19 months old he's already got you this buffaloed? Give him a real fast bath and send him on his merry way. No comments, no arguments. You should be able to control this situation at this age. Give him the same fast bath every day as a matter of fact as part of his bed time routine. If you do a lot of elaborate coercing and cajoling now with a simple, inarguable necessity like this, you will be setting yourself up for problems when he gets bigger and more able to oppose you.
  • loads of bubbles and floating toys
  • Plunk him in there and give him his bath. No matter what kind of fuss he makes. Do this a few times and he will realize that he isn't going to win this power struggle and he will stop his fighting. On this subject at least, lol.
  • Make it a fun tme. I have seen an add on Tv for soemthing called Jelly Baff. IT turns the water into Jelly. colourful to! turns back into water when you put soem disolver thing in it. That could be fun. Have bubble baths, and let him see you and your parnter playing withthe bubbles, but make it as if you are not trying to include him in the fun. Make santa clause faces etc and act like you are having so much fun. He will want in the fun quick enough =] reverse psychology!
  • Try and find out why he hates them, most toddlers love to take baths. Maybe the water is running while he's in the tub, or the temperature isn't right. Maybe he's being left alone or someone gets soap in eyes or to much water in his face. Something has made them "not fun" and they should be.
  • You must integrate bathing into the daily routine of the child. A daily bath before breakfast would be ideal. Once the routine is set, life will be easier both for you and your child.
  • Get some bubble bath, and some cool bath toys. If possible, take him to the store and let him choose some bath toys. These toys are ONLY for the bath, and he won't be able to play with them outside the tub. If he wants the toys, he's going to have to let you give him a bath.
  • Bubble baths! Also let him pour the bubble stuff in (kids like doing stuff like that) and watching how it magically makes bubbles. Bath toys are always good and my boys really liked the soap crayons. They could draw all over the inside of the bathtub and since it was soap, it would wash away really easily. Try to make it fun for him.
  • Take a bath or shower with him.
