Why is the heart considered the seat of love and passion, and not, for example the liver, or the pancreas?

perhaps because a more rapid heartbeat may follow seeing someone to whom you are attracted. We are not aware of our liver or pancreas in the same way.

That is a very good question. Did you know that ancient man knew where the heart was, what it's basic shape was and that it ached terribly with lost love? Also artificial (mechanical) heart transplant receivers rarely survive more than a few months because they loose their love for life, they find they are depressed and have trouble loving others. Isn't that wild? Scientists are working hard to figure out what that amazing organ really does. But we all knew before there were surgeons. It is our love machine.

cause it's the one organ (except parhaps from the digestive tract) which man can hear working and feel it in times of emotions which are associated with the strongest experiences a human passes through.
