For me? It is hot pear sauce. Make it like you would apple sauce. Peel the pears, quarter them, remove the cores. Put them in a stock pot, with just a wee bit of water so they won't burn. Cook them down until they are soft enough to mash with a potato masher. I leave them fairly coarse. The pears need absolutely no sugar, no spices added. Pour the sauce (heated up if necessary in a microwave) over a good vanilla ice cream. As an even faster alternative, just peel, quarter and core the pears, then put them in a dish in a microwave at full power for a couple of minutes. Once they are just soft, but not complete mush, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. A final great desert that I've enjoyed is to start with a large apple. Peel it, then cut in half. Remove the core, leaving a cup shape. Make one of these per person. Mix up a batch of raisins, brown sugar, and butter. Pack this into the cup in the apple, then bake until the apple is soft. (Or microwave it.) A big scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. All of these are great deserts that take little effort and very little time to make, and go absolutely great with vanilla ice cream.
