There are two reasons why one would not do so..... 1. If they were depressed about getting older and does not want to believe that they are a year older and therefore not want to celebrate it. 2. You are a Jehovah's Witness and do not believe in celebrating birthdays.

I made a deal with my plastic surgeon. You make me look 20 years younger and i will lose my birth certificate and my birthdays. Guess what happened?

I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness and have never really celebrated my birthday. Although I am no longer a memeber of that faith, I don't really see the point. It is an extra expense that I don't need. However, throughout the years I have celebrated it from time to time to humor others.
