I would think that it's their fault for exposing the letters in error (scrabble right?) and should not be allowed to get new letters, that would give them a possible advantage over the game, especially if someone makes, "errors", on purpose. Think about it :)

No. The letters go back to the player who had them in the first place.

I believe that the rules say that when a word is challenged successfully, the tiles go back on the player's rack. The fact that other players saw the tiles is part of the penalty for playing a non-word.
