I believe that neither of them explain everything completely. There is a lot of both nature and nurture that goes in to deciding how a person or animal will act.
-
I think that they both have a play on a person.
-
I'd have to say it depends on the characteristic, although generally, I believe it is nurture...
-
It's not an "either/or" question, it depends on circumstances, personality, species, and a whole host of other parameters. I believe both have an effect.
-
Both, absolutely. Look at those cases of twins separated at birth (the two who both became firemen in towns 30 miles away from each other is my personal favorite). Obviously nature is very active there. Then look at stuff like sexual fetishism and orientation. I believe homo/bisexuality is mostly nature, but pedophilia has been PROVEN to be VASTLY nurture associated.

Nature sets the framework, nurture just adjusts the individual within that framework.
-
Both. They are inextricably woven together. DNA coupled with environment. Happy Tuesday! :)
-
nature is what has been there since the beginning. nurture is the continuous care it has recieved. nature is a human being. nurture is about that being getting care, even if the care is from the person.
-
In what context?
-
I think it's a little off both. Maybe a 40/60 ratio with nurture being 60%.

Genetics determine aptitude and tendency that can be influenced and modified by learning and environment. You can teach a dog to act like a cat but it will always be inclined to be a dog.
