  • Standard Doberman 3 to 4 lb but you also need supplements and roughage.
  • Typically, we shoot for about 3% of the dog's IDEAL body weight...adjusting as needed if the dog needs to gain or loose weight. You need to also take into account what activities your dogs do...that will burn calories...jogging with you, swimming, hunting, agility, fly ball, coursing, pregnant or nursing puppies... We feed 80% meats, 10% bones and 10% organs not so much at every single meal, but over the course of meals for the week.... Most raw feeders feed once a day, some prefer to break it into two meals, and of course for a puppy you will break it down into 3 to 5 smaller meals per day. Some raw feeders give "Gorge meals" The dog eats till it doesn't want another bite...then fasts the next day or two even in some cases, you might toss them a turkey heart during a fast period, but not really feed them. It depends upon what works best for your dog. Always remember Large dogs with deep chests who tend to gulp their feed, can STILL BLOAT...even on raw, although it is usually less likely! Think in terms of feeding them BIGGER THAN THEIR HEADS, large portions that take time to gnaw off the bone! Of course do not feed large weight-baring bones, those are too dense and can crack teeth! (cow legs, deer or elk legs..) Goat, chicken, turkey, lamb, pig legs are not so dense and generally crunch up safely! http://www.skylarzack.com/rawfeeding.htm http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/rawfeeding/ http://www.rawfeddogs.net/Recipes Lots more support and information is available at these websites/groups!
