Since race has no biological meaning it would mean that racism has not biological meaning. But anyone who has been a victim of racism will tell you it has emotional meaning.

Well genetic variation is what makes evolution thrive so race dose have biological purpose. This means your question is not relevant. Racism is bad and makes fools of the group or individual. You may hate that person but cant hate an entire race because they did not oppress you in any way just the individual.

Even though Race is a human construct with no biological meaning, it is "socially real". Racism is when people discriminate against a person or group based on their *socially constructed* racial group. EDIT Here is an interesting discussion on the topic: http://tinyurl.com/2pwzet (Read the whole thing!)

Well, no. Discriminating against races has no menaing, as 'race' is a human construction. We are all of one race, the human one. There is no reason to discriminate at all. But people do, because people have this amazing tendancy to look at each other and think 'you are not like me, you look different', when really we all look very similar at the end of the day. So the word racism is more 'discriminate against false ideas of a person's race' rather than discriminationg against a race

While race is a human construct not based in biological differences; racism is based in physical differences between different people. There is no biological reason to be racist but people who are racist don't base their prejudices on biological reasons. They base their prejudices on the physical appearance of certain people. It is stupid and has no basis in science. Racism has meaning because of the damage that happens to our society because of it. If we were to say that it has no meaning then we might be more inclined to say that it has no existance. It does exsist and is always harmful to those it is aimed at and to society as a whole.
