it's spelled "bale."
& you do it so livestock will have something to eat if there is not enough pasture to graze on.
it's also to make profit. a lot of people with livestock buy hay because they don't have the means or tools to grow & bale hay themselves.
it's just a part of agriculture.
baling hay is also used to have a food source ready if there is not a natural one during winter months. many times people will bale hay, store it, & keep it until it's used or has gone bad.
& this question is in the wrong category. i'll fix that for you.
"bale" not bail. Farmer's bale hay to feed their livestock or sale for profit. Hay is made from different types of grasses like timothy and clover and alfalfa. This is why its green. Straw on the other hand is yellow b/c its made from the leftovers after the cereal plants has been harvested.
