I think there is a difference between just a kiss in public and making out in public. If you're going to give someone a 'goodbye kiss' I find that completely acceptable. However, if you are going to give someone a 'goodbye make out' then you should have done so before you left the house.

UGH I hate PDA....I don't mind a peck or hugging, but don't act like you're gonna rip each other's clothes off in front of me

I find that any prolonged kissing a bit much (especially if there is associated sounds going on too!). I kiss my female friends good bye with a peck on the cheek. I wouldn't dream of engaging in a session of 'tonsil tennis' in public.
