Probably because a male contraceptive pill may have adverse effects on the man's sexual performance. May be his erections are weakened since testosterone production might be affected. Just a guess.

I think that males are less likely to use a birth control pill and drug manufacturers know it. That's too bad because it sure could save guys from the heartbreak of the "accidentally on purpose" pregnancy traps. Contraception shouldn't have to be solely the woman's responsibility but in reality she is the one who will become pregnant and have to deal with it. So she needs to be the one who does the self-protection. I know I wouldn't leave it to someone else to prevent my pregnancy.

Because, up until now ... MEN have controlled the pharmacy markets including Birth Control. Instead of using birth control ; al a guy had to do was to ask his partner if SHE took HER pill .... Now; as women get more power in business and more independent; they are making men assume some of the responsability of birth control ... I don't think it should always be the woman's responsability for birth control ; BUT she is the one who will get pregnant , have the child, raise the child etc ..as so many of these guys just WALK away ... Therefore; I still believe that for their own protection ; that wonmen should still use birth control as an extra precaution , no matter what he says or does .... +5

I could very well be wrong but I think it is because for a very long time it was believed that it was up to the woman to get pregnant. And if she did not it was her fault, and not the man's. In some cases this can be true but it was believed to be in all cases. Same for the sex of the child, which is decided by the man's sperm, not the woman's egg, but it was believed to be the other way around.
