That would be amazing. Sadly, no I think peace is far from on the cards. To think that Obama can bring peace to the Middle East to me seems very naive.

Ermm...no. I hope the withdrawal of US troops is certainly "in the cards" soon. But, "soon" still may be another year according to our fearless leader. I do hope both Iraq and Afghanistan ...and Palestine can have some kind of viable and stable government. I wish them well. But, I do not see "peace" in the Middle East in my lifetime.

You want peace, bomb the middle east till theres nothing left of the holy land. I mean all out nuclear devastation. Contaminate the whole region, leave it uninhabitable and there will be peace, until then the stupid fighting will continue.

No, the people of the Middle East are not thinking in political or economic terms when they attack their neighbors. This is a collection of gangs waring for superiority. Should one gang succeed there will be momentary peace until a split occurs within the gang and new fighting will follow.

War in the Middle East has been going on for centuries. If there is peace, it will be short-lived. Religious and cultural differences and oil are too much to overcome.

Today's (7 SEP 2009) announcement by Israel to build more than 450 new homes in the occupied West Bank doesn't help.
