  • pay bord tidy up the house every now and then get a full time job or get qulifications
  • First, he pays a reasonable amount for rent. this is necesarry to teach him the value of money and paying for a place to live and food. Second, chores. he is living with you and not in a hotel. give him responsibilities. and, no clothes on the floor. Third, a family contract to be signed by you and him. this is for a reason. it teaches him the value of a contract and what to expect in the real world of obligations. If he is a good child, he will not object to any of the above.
  • I'd say if you get him to pay rent & help with the cleaning, that'd be pretty reasonable.
  • 1st ; if he is 18 and living at MY home; he WILL pay about $50 a week RENT. 2nd: He WILL assist in taking care of the yard and take out the trash . 3rd: He WILL help in cleaning the house, doing dishes etc ; like the bathrooms ... he can do one on one week and I'll do the other and we'll swith the next etc. ..just as long as he helps. 4th: He WILL do his own laundry. 5th: NO Drugs or Alcohol on the premises ... 6th: NO overnight female guest or females on the premises for sexual encounters at all .... 7th: ALL gues are off of my property by MIDNIGHT . Follow those rules and we'll get along just fine ..violate one and you are OUT and on your own ... +5
  • DEMAND a reasonable amount of rent. If he does not go to school and is not working towards getting a better (not part time) job then he should pay up some more. Since you're the stepmom, you ought to talk this over with his dad. If you're near losing your house, then the dad should see reason - the house isn't just your responsibility if your son, another adult, lives in it. If he resists paying rent, (admittedly it will be a change from living there free before) then just rephrase it as a contribution to house payments that are not unreasonable given the fact he lives under the same roof. If all else fails, try to get him some independence, community college is that is an option, with someplace of his own to live and support himself. Some people just need to be in the real world to grow.
