Help answer this question below.
In certain areas, most notably inner city, it can be very dangerous to be on the streets at night. There is also a high level of knife crime amongst teenagers in these areas, and this is not always gang on gang crime.
However as a general rule, no the streets are safe places (outside of the poor inner city areas, or away from High Streets and City/Town centres at pub and then club kicking out time on Friday and Saturday nights when the violence or trouble is alcohol induced), and I have never been randomly attacked.
At the weekends mainly.....
No they don't have any problems and they won't have.
Britain is the safest country in the world with the best police.
Even last year they had street terrorist attacks.
That would qualify for street violence, won't it?
They did have, when "Jack the Ripper" was alive.

You're reading Does the UK have bad street violence problems?
Comments
I cannot imagine that there are since ever any kind of problems in the streets in your country.
I think you have the best police and the best conditions in your country, so that I wonder if somebody is asking such a stupid question.

I feel so bad every time I say something bad about the UK and you see it frederik, I feel like I am crushing your dreams... unfortunately, it is true. There are problems on the streets.

I hardly can believe it.
Reading your newspapers I did not mention that they think there is a problem.
by Frederik on August 25th, 2009
What newspapers have you been reading?!! Street/Knife crime is all over them.
by Jadey - Vive la difference on August 26th, 2009
I read often the "Times" as well as "Daily Mail" and the "Sun" and even the "Daily Mirror".
by Frederik on August 26th, 2009
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/knifecrime - Sadly it has to have its own sections in one of the papers.

I am quite surprised you can have a good view of Britain if you read the Daily Mail.. its such a fear mongering newspaper. I take it with a pinch of salt personally, the Times, Independent and Guardian are (although still only as trustworthy as any newspaper can be) more reliable.
by Jadey - Vive la difference on August 26th, 2009
The "Daily Mail" or the "Sun" I like that much because they are so often writing so many amusing things especially about the Germans. It is always amusing to me if I read a newspapers that seems to satisfy in our days the public with these funny things.
The Times seems to me still the most objective paper.
Both papers are quite often quoted by German medias and German medias of course want to give proof that this is the opinion in Britain.
Clear that Britain has not a very good reputation over here and many people have their reservations.
by Frederik on August 26th, 2009
Ha I can't get amusement out of the Daily Mail or Sun, they make me so angry I in all honesty can't get past page 7. I feel my blood pressure rise! Yes, I think the times is fairly objective too =)

Which article do you mean?

What do you mean?
by Jadey - Vive la difference on August 26th, 2009
You are writing of a past page 7.
BTW here in Munich you can walk around all night in the streets and nothing will happen.
Munich is one of the safest cities over here.
People who make problems would not stay for long in the streets.
by Frederik on August 26th, 2009
Oh I see.. no I mean every page of these papers is so filled with hate, fear and lies that I usually get so mad because of the lies in the papers that after a few pages I stop reading.

Yes, Munich does sound very nice. I have a friend from Munich =)
by Jadey - Vive la difference on August 26th, 2009
Then you should come some time to Munich and see how it works there.
In regard of the quoted newspapers I only can say that working with bias and hostility is always an easy and good business for the press. Perhaps we would have the same press if we would not have changed our laws in regard of that public campaigns we know from Nazi times.
by Frederik on August 26th, 2009
Yes, maybe so =)

I live in the UK and there aren't that much crimes in the UK compared to USA mainly the NYC. I read about one person getting trampled on by someone in stiletos(right into his ears), I am not trying to be prejudice here i am just trying to defend where i was born.
All i am trying to say is USA and UK crime are far from the same, If you want to live somewhere french but not have to speak french come to Guernsey it is an island in the Channel Isles. There are always places to see although traffic is a nightmare so really you would feel right at home.
Apart from the speed limit Being 25mph but atleast you would need a visa to go to france(Hence the old language name "Guernsey french") we say stuff like: boudiax or boudou (yuk), go deown the loibree (go down the library), etc.

I'd love to go tot he Channel Islands... I bet they're very pleasent and safe! I have heard its hard to fit in, if you are an outsider. Is that true?
