I don't know for sure how exactly. But I do know that the Insurance companies with their trillion dollar profit margins, are deathly afraid of losing them. And that's good enough for me. Got Enron?

Making medical care available to all, free at the point of use, is a good thing. Letting money grabbing corporations run anything to do with health or social care is a bad thing, just as it's been bad for the rail network here in the UK, and coal mining, the postal service, parking control, and telecomunications. The worst case scenario is underfunding by the government reducing the amount of care available, however, despite the worst predations of the last tory government, we in the UK still have one of the best health care systems in the world!
